The number of species of flies is almost infinite. In a small country like Denmark alone, approx. 5,000 different species and there are probably over 100,000 species worldwide. However, there are some species that we meet particularly often and which are quite easy to recognize. The fly we encounter most often is undoubtedly the housefly (Musca domestica).
