How mice get into your home
Mice typically gain access to houses and homes through various means. Some of the most common methods include: the following.
Small openings and cracks: Mice can enter houses through small gaps, cracks, or openings in walls, floors, or doors. Even very tiny openings can be enough for mice to squeeze through.
Open doors and windows: If doors or windows are left open or are not properly sealed, mice can easily enter.
Inadequate food storage: If food items are not stored properly in sealed containers, mice may be attracted by the smell and attempt to enter to access the food.
Sewer systems: Sometimes, mice can enter houses through the sewer system, traveling up through drainpipes and finding their way inside.
Ladders and branches: Mice are skilled climbers and can use ladders, branches, or other structures near the house to reach openings or gutters.
To prevent mice from entering your home, it's important to seal any cracks and openings, store food properly, keep doors and windows tightly sealed, and ensure there are no easy access points such as ladders or branches close to the house. If you already have mice in your home, it may be necessary to contact pest control to remove them and take steps to prevent further infestation.
