This is how a rat scarecrow works

Rat scarers are designed to disturb rats by emitting high-frequency sounds or electromagnetic pulses. The rats do not like these sounds and will find other places to stay. Rat scares are thus an effective way to keep rats away from the house.

Rat scares are used against stray rats. Do not use once the rats have established themselves, here traps are used first.

Note that the electronic scarecrow has limited effect against rats when there are chickens nearby. This is because the chickens provide good conditions for rats. So, for example, if a rat can get food in an area, ultrasound is not enough to scare them away.

IMPORTANT:
We point out that it can take up to 14 days before the scarecrow has achieved full effect. This is because rats are creatures of habit.  

If there are already rats in the area, it takes a lot to scare them away. Instead, it is recommended to use traps to control rats. After this, you can advantageously set up a rat deterrent to prevent new rats in the area.

After you have set up a rat deterrent, it may happen that the rats become curious and investigate where the sound is coming from. So if you see a rat in front of scarecrows, it doesn't mean that the rat scarecrow doesn't work, but that the rat is investigating the sound. If it's a stray rat, it won't come back.  

Some dogs and cats can hear tones up to 50,000 Hz. Always check whether the dog or cat is affected by the ultrasound. If they are affected, only use the scarecrow in an area where the dog and cat are not. Ultrasound does not pass through walls etc. 

Remember disinfection

If you have had rats visit you indoors, in the attic or other places where you stay, it is important to remember to disinfect after a rat attack.

Rat disinfection is necessary, as you can otherwise risk the spread of bacteria and viruses from rats.
