Live catch rat traps are a good way to catch rats if you don't want to kill them. The traps are made of a wire mesh that is typically attached to a door. When the rat enters the trap and tries to eat the bait, the door falls and traps the rat.

3. Add bait to the trap. Rats are attracted to food, so use something familiar to rats, e.g. cheese, bacon or nuts.

4. Check the trap regularly. You should check the trap every day or every other day to make sure you are not catching more rats than you can handle.

5. When you have caught a rat in the trap, you can drive into the forest and set it free or euthanize the rat humanely.

Tips to improve the effectiveness of live catch rat traps:

- Use fresh bait .

- Use the food that the rats are already eating in areas as bait. Then the rats eat, for example, grain or feed from the chamber, so use it as a lure.     

- Place the trap near rats' walkways, e.g. along walls and the like..

- Use more than one trap.

- Use gloves when handling traps to avoid applying human aroma, which scares the rats away from the trap. 

IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT LIVE CATCHING OF RODENTS:
Live capture traps must be checked daily. If possible, a snap trap should be inserted so that the rodent is killed as soon as possible. Remember that the rodents must have access to food and water when they are caught in live capture traps.
