Buy snake and viper scares. Protect the garden from snakes. Covers up to 650 m². Emits vibrations in the ground. Incl. solar cell.

The solar powered snake repellent device is designed to repel snakes by emitting a pulse that snakes feel as a vibration transmitted through the ground. Snakes perceive it as a danger zone which causes them to flee the area, not so much a physical barrier, rather an area where snakes do not want to be.

The driver transmits the signal approx. 20m in all directions. They can therefore be placed approx. 40m apart for optimal coverage; it is always recommended to use two or more units for best results.

Location:
Place a unit near retaining walls, rock piles, old sheds, etc. to drive snakes out of their hiding places (see drawing).

When the units are first installed, children and pets must be kept away from the area for one hour in case a snake has been driven out of its hiding place. Must not be placed too close to a wall, fence or similar, so that the scarecrow cannot receive sunlight during the day.

It is not recommended to place the scarecrows in the middle of the garden, because then you will probably just scare them into the home, depending on which way the bats come from.

The driver works with rechargeable batteries. The solar module powers the device and charges the battery during the day; night operation takes place from the battery.

Installation

1. Press "ON" under the head of the device, connect the small plugs of the wires from the bottom of the head of the device to the plug of the spear part, and assemble the spear and the head of the device.

2. Insert the spear into the ground, but be careful not to damage the unit. The spear must be planted firmly, but the lower edge of the head must be 2.5-‐5 cm above the ground. We recommend using a pole to first make a small hole and gently push the spear down, or dig a small hole and top up with soil once the unit is in place. Do not use a club, hammer or great force as this may damage the device. If you can get the unit 2/3 into the ground with a fixed ground contact, that is good.

3. You can tell if the unit is working as its LED indicator light will flash when it emits its signal and you will feel the vibrations.

4. Sometimes the unit may need a short time in the sun to give it a jumpstart when it is first installed. If the device stops working, check/replace the rechargeable battery to see if it is OK - as this is the normal reason for devices to stop working. If the device sometimes has too little charge (due to too little sunshine), it will regulate itself to ensure that it only emits the correct signal.

Although the units are waterproof, it is recommended that they be removed during extreme weather, eg hail, snow and flooding. If the unit becomes filled with water and stops working, pick it up and lay it out to dry. Normally, the device will function properly again when it is completely dry. The only maintenance required is wiping the solar panel with a soft cloth to remove any dirt.

Be careful not to break the units if they are picked up from the ground.

While the device should reduce the number of hoses around your house once it's installed and operating, you should always be aware; nothing can be 100% effective as unforeseen circumstances can occur and this can create a risk that a random snake may not be dislodged immediately. Although the snakes are likely to leave the area, there is no control in which direction each snake will move away. Some snakes may initially retreat away from the grounds/or onto concrete areas, etc. until they decide where to go. Other external factors, eg heavy machinery operating nearby may temporarily affect the efficiency of the units.

Sometimes snakes living nearby can get used to the devices and slowly move closer to the protected area. If you think this is the case, it is a good idea to reposition the units by moving them 3-‐4 m every two or three months, which should be enough to prevent this.
