The marten is a shy animal that can be difficult to catch. Therefore, one must be careful with the placement of one's traps.
The marten does not normally look for food where it sleeps/lives.

SETUP:
Start by laying eggs under these bushes and hedges in the garden. The eggs should preferably be country eggs that have not been touched with your fingers, use gloves.

When the marten starts eating the eggs, set the trap. Make sure that the substrate that the trap stands on (Oord/sand) comes up through the bottom of the wire mesh. The seagull does not like to walk on the wire floor.
Remember, do not touch the trap with your fingers. An egg is placed in the holder for bait.
To prevent the marten from knocking over the trap, place something heavy over the trap, a tile or similar.

(Does not apply to rats).
