The Mår-Fri-Unit creates an acoustic signal with a frequency of 12 kHz in intervals of 15 seconds on and off respectively. This high ultrasonic frequency feels irritating and unpleasant to martens, so they are avoided in the vehicle where it is installed. The Marten-Free Unit is mounted with bolts or clamps in the vehicle's engine compartment. The power supply cable should be placed in such a way that it does not come into contact with moving or hot parts (cooling fan, exhaust manifold, etc.).

The unit should be mounted in the engine compartment and in such a way that the sound waves are not absorbed by insulation.
