How Mosquito Repellents Work

Ultrasonic Waves: Ultrasonic mosquito repellents emit ultrasonic waves that mosquitoes can hear. Ultrasound is a sound that humans cannot hear but mosquitoes find annoying.

Scent repeller:
Scent-based mosquito repellents are the most common type. They are often inexpensive and easy to use. Scent-based mosquito repellents can be effective, but they are not 100% effective. Mosquitoes can adapt to the scent over time, and they may also be attracted to the scent of food or other nearby items.

Ultrasonic:
Ultrasonic mosquito repellents are a newer type of repellent. They are generally more effective than scent-based repellents but are also more expensive. Ultrasonic mosquito repellents are not 100% effective and may also disturb other pets such as cats and dogs.

Other methods to keep mosquitoes away:

In addition to mosquito repellents, there are several other methods to keep mosquitoes away. These methods include:

- Wear clothing that covers as much skin as possible.
- Use mosquito spray that can be applied or sprayed on skin/clothing.
- Avoid staying in areas with many mosquitoes, such as dense vegetation or near water bodies.
- Remove water from your garden, such as stagnant water in drainage pipes or bird baths.

Which mosquito repellent is best?

The best mosquito repellent depends on your individual needs and preferences. If you are looking for a cheap and easy solution, a scent-based mosquito repellent is a good choice. If you are looking for a more effective solution, an ultrasonic mosquito repellent is a good choice.

About Midges

There are at least 400 different species of midges - the good news is, none of them bite. If you're dealing with midges, simply wait a few days as they die off on their own. Midges live in large swarms but neither bite nor sting humans.

It is not recommended to actively combat midges. This is because midges play an important role in our ecosystem, where the many adult midges serve as food for several birds and other animals. Midge larvae are found in large quantities in water bodies such as ponds, lakes, and streams, where they are a primary food source for fish, frogs, and aquatic insects, among others.

If you wish to use an electronic midge trap or repellent, you generally CANNOT use these for this purpose. Repellents and traps rarely have significant effects on midges.
