Bed bugs (Cimex lectularius) are an increasing problem today in hotels, bed and breakfasts, even in public transport such as buses and trains. Bed bugs have been on the rise for the past 6 to 8 years, even in highly industrialized European countries. Bed bugs make nests in crevices and holes in beds and sofas.

They hide in folds in mattresses, cracks and crevices, in the springs, or behind the headboard of the bed, bedside tables, paintings, skirting boards, even on electrical cables and in sockets. Professional exterminators know how difficult it can be to control bed bugs.

Polti Cimex Eradicator has proven to be an innovative and effective solution to combat bed bugs. The machine delivers "dry steam", which can be used on furniture, mattresses, carpets, etc. The special feature of this system is the type of steam which, after being generated in a boiler (as in a conventional steam generator), is further heated to a maximum temperature of 180°C.

In the machine, the steam is mixed with an HPMed sterilizing liquid, a water and alcohol-based solution containing sodium metasilicate and sodium carbonate. The vapor emitted by the Polti Cimex Eradicator can be emitted near people.

Laboratory and field trials have shown the effectiveness of heated dry steam for rapid control of bed bug infestations.
